Our New Sidewalk Project Part of the 500 Lackawanna Avenue and New Parking Garage Projects, our sidewalk and neighboring sidewalks as well, are to be refinished. Scroll back in time and see how they were done! ************* 26 November 2004
Wow! This came out beautiful. The lamp is in place and finish work will be done Monday. ************* 23 November 2004
The pour went on as scheduled and workers were still on site after dark finishing up.
We took one on the chin today and closed so that the sidewalk could be finished in time for Thanksgiving. Workers first waterproofed the concrete, then they laid down one inch ridged insulation and on top of that the six inches of gravel you can see above. The gravel was then leveled and the second layer of concrete arrived. ************* 22 November 2004
The concrete is dry and workers are finishing the foundation wall work. The tube on the right center is for the new light fixture. Wooden forms on the right are for the curbs. ************* 19 November 2004
While workers spread concrete, our neighbor Jack from Scranton Hobby, walks the plank with his Dallas Cowboy helmet on after the Eagles laid a beating on them!
Workers spread the first 12 inch layer of concrete on the rebar. ************* 13 November 2004
This is what it looks like underneath in the vault.
Hey its beginning to look like a sidewalk again. These galvanized sheets are riveted on to the steel beams.
Cross members are welded into place. While our mailman, Dave, looks on. ************* 11 November 2004
Cross ties are now being welded to the main beams.
Main beams span the two sidewalks.
The steel beams are in place on our side. ************* 8 November 2004
Those bolt plates mounted on the new footers will hold the new steel columns and beams in place. ************* 20 October 2004
Workers lower a wooden gang way so our customers can enter during construction.
Our scarecrow keeps a wary eye on the proceedings outside.
The excavator rips up sections of our sidewalk.
That's the underground vaults. They were used for coal storage years ago. They will not be filled in, new decking will be placed on top. ************* 15 October 2004
Our ramp is built and awaits instillation.
Our sidewalk still stands.
The sidewalk at Scranton Hobby is gone and their ramp is in place. We are next. |
