Medallion Parking Garage The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is providing $4 million for the $9.48 million, 500-space Medallion Garage project on the 100 block of Adams Avenue in the City of Scranton. The goal is to provide much needed parking spaces for those intending to conduct business, shop, dine or just play within the City. The plans call for the demolition of the 78-year-old Casey Parkway, and the construction of the new, eight-story, state-of-the-art garage, which includes space for four retail shops at the ground level. Historically significant decorative medallions, which reflect modes of transportation, will be the lone reminder of the Casey Parkway structure. The City of Scranton, the Redevelopment Authority, the City's Office of Economic and Community Development and the Scranton Parking Authority are all working collaboratively to bring this project to fruition. The remainder of the funding for the Medallion Garage will come from the City of Scranton's bond issue proceeds and the federal government. This garage should rise up faster than the Hilton Garage on our block. It will be pre-cast. Scroll down to go back in time. ************* 11 November 2006

It's kind of hard to see them, but the relief medallions can be seen in this photo. they will be removed and saved. They will be recast and applied to the new garage, This photo was taken when the Hilton Hotel was under construction. It shows what the Old Casey Garage looked like.
