1954 Corvette Frame-off Restoration Project
When Pete's not fixing wieners, he likes to fix old cars! His friend Joe N owns a 1954 Corvette in need of a frame-off restoration and Pete is part of Joe's Corvette Crew! Scroll down and watch the progress:
Disassembly begins!
A view of the dash.
Out comes the carburetors.
The 54 year old side curtains!
The gas tank looks pretty good!
Looks a little scary under the dash and yes boys and girls that is the radio, complete with tubes!
More scary spaghetti.
Dash gets unraveled.
Fuel pump is out.
Parts pile.
Looks like the block needs to shaved.
Engine is out.
The bottom of the engine gets the once over.
The front cross member needs some TLC.
The frame arrives at the machine shop, where it was checked before media blasting. Frame is finished and back in assembly garage!
Jack installs upper and lower control arms.

Donnie and Mike tackle the kingpins.
Finished knuckle with kingpin installed.
Backing plate, knuckle and control arms.
Front brakes assembled.
Third arm get a new bearing. Steering linkage, brake lines, drum and wheel bearings are in. Third arm completely assembled. Here's a view of the front cross member, with the sway bar installed on top of the frame, between the control arm towers. The third arm ends as a mounting point for the radiator.
Parking brake cables ready for assembly. Leaf springs assembled. Rear end is assembled, along with rear brake lines. Rear brakes assembled! Priceless parking brake cables mounted and in working order. Rear wheels mounted in preparation for rolling chassis. All four shoes are on!

Coming off the engine stand. Back together! On her way back in! Engine is mounted, time to torque the head bolts. All done! Looking Good!
